Australian Website Hosting Guide

Already Have An HTML Website? Get It Live Without Starting Over

Already have the HTML and a domain? Keep your design. Check the mobile layout, forms, email, SEO and hosting launch before changing anything.

The Short Answer

Keep The Design; Check The Launch Essentials

An existing HTML website does not need a redesign or a WordPress conversion merely to go live. First review the supplied files, mobile layout, forms, business email, domain records, security and search basics. Then agree on the essential fixes, a hosting fit check and a tested launch plan. Ultra IT can scope that work while preserving your existing branding.

What Matters Most

  • Keep the branding and pages you already like; quote only the changes the site actually needs.
  • A visible HTML form still needs processing, spam protection and tested delivery.
  • Changing website hosting does not require transferring your domain ownership or business email.
  • The $32/month hosting starting point includes GST; review, fixes and deployment are separately scoped.

01

What We Check Before Hosting Existing HTML

We start with the actual website package: HTML, stylesheets, scripts, images, fonts and any external services it relies on. A page that looks complete in a local preview can still depend on a missing file, a path tied to a developer’s computer or a third-party service that needs its own account.

Then we check the visitor journey. Can somebody understand the offer and make contact on a phone? Do the important links work? Is the same design usable on a tablet and desktop? We separate essential launch findings from optional improvements, so the work stays focused on a dependable site rather than an unrequested creative overhaul.

  • Complete files and dependencies.
  • Important pages, navigation and contact route.
  • Phone, tablet and desktop layouts.
  • Hosting compatibility and any dynamic features.

02

Check The Site On Real Screen Sizes

“Mobile-friendly” is more than shrinking the desktop page. We check navigation, text size, button spacing, image crops and form fields at phone, tablet and desktop widths. We also check current browsers instead of assuming one local preview represents every visitor.

If the supplied HTML already behaves well, it can stay as it is. If a section breaks or becomes difficult to use, a targeted fix can be scoped. Responsive images can help deliver appropriately sized media without abandoning the existing design.

03

Make Sure Enquiry Forms Actually Deliver

A static HTML form does not automatically email an enquiry. It needs a working destination or processing service, suitable validation, spam controls and a tested delivery route. MDN’s form guidance explains the difference between the visible fields and the server-side handling that receives their data.

Before launch, check where submissions go, what the visitor sees after sending and whether a genuine test message arrives. If business email uses a separate provider, plan around it rather than assuming the new website host should replace it. Do not send account passwords through the initial enquiry form.

04

Keep Your Domain And Business Email Under Control

You can normally keep the domain you already own when changing website hosting. Domain registration, website hosting and email hosting are related, but they are not necessarily the same service. The Australian Government has separate guidance for domain registration and business email.

Before changing DNS, identify who controls the domain and which records serve the website and email. Moving the website should not unexpectedly interrupt mail. Agree on the change window and a way to check both services afterwards. You remain the domain owner; hosting the site does not require transferring ownership to Ultra IT.

05

Do The Search And Security Basics Before Launch

The existing design can keep its appearance while we check page titles, descriptions, headings, image alternatives, links, mobile usability, HTTPS and obvious performance issues. These are foundations, not a promise of rankings. Google’s SEO starter guide explains how clear page information helps people and search engines understand a site.

If the site is already live elsewhere, preserving useful URLs is usually the cleanest route. Where a path must change, map it to the closest relevant replacement and plan a redirect. Google recommends testing pages and functionality before a hosting move and provides separate guidance for URL changes.

Security and backup responsibilities belong in the hosting discussion. Confirm what applies to this particular site before promising a backup schedule, retention period or restore scope.

06

Do You Need WordPress To Host An HTML Site?

Not necessarily. Static pages can often be hosted as supplied after the necessary checks and fixes. A content management system may make sense if your team needs frequent page edits or functionality the static files do not provide. Choose it for that workflow or feature need, not as a default condition of hosting.

07

Understand The Hosting And Launch Costs

Ultra IT’s Sunshine Coast website hosting starts from $32 per month including GST, subject to a fit check. Reviewing, adapting or deploying an existing HTML site is separate project work. The one-off cost depends on page count, forms, email, third-party dependencies and fixes found in the review.

We scope that work before proceeding so you can decide what fits your budget. An unknown amount of development is not included merely because the monthly hosting fee has a published starting price.

08

Agree On A Tested Launch Sequence

Share the public site or a non-sensitive copy of its files, your domain name, page count and the functions that must work. We review it and provide a plain-English list of essentials, optional improvements and agreed scope. Do not send account passwords through the enquiry form.

After approval, prepare and test the site, including key pages, device layouts, forms, HTTPS and email routing. Plan the DNS change, confirm the live result and check for problems that only appear after launch. Tell us that your HTML is ready and you want to keep the current branding.

Common Questions

Clear Answers Before You Decide

Can I Keep My Existing Design And Branding?

Yes, that is the starting point. If we find a mobile, accessibility or functional problem, we will explain the targeted change and agree on it before altering the design.

Can I Use My Current Domain Name?

Usually, yes. We need access to the appropriate DNS controls at the agreed change time, but your domain can remain registered with its current provider and in your ownership.

Will Moving The Website Break My Business Email?

It need not, but email records must be checked separately before and after the website move. We identify the current mail provider and plan around its configuration.

Is A Contact Form Included Because It Is Visible In The HTML?

No. The visible form may still need a receiving service, validation, spam protection and delivery testing. Those requirements become part of the agreed scope after review.

Is A CMS Required For SEO?

No. Useful content, clear titles, crawlable links and mobile usability are not exclusive to a CMS. Choose a CMS when its editing workflow or features suit the business.
